About Elliott
Dr. Fisher’s groundbreaking research focuses on advancing the understanding of the causes of the dramatic differences in spending and quality observed across US regions and health care systems, and identifying opportunities to improve health system performance. He has long been active in national health care reform initiatives and was one of the originators of the now widely implemented policy approach to doing so—accountable care organizations.
Dr. Fisher has served on major national committees and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard University and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington, where he also was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar and received his Master’s in Public Health.
